Krauss Consulting & Recycling is a member of the DIN-SPEC-Project with the topic „Test method for determining the defect density of films made from recycled plastics“

In the context of the transformation to a circular economy, the recycling of plastic and plastic films is also of great importance. 

The increasing use of films made from recycled plastics is driving the need for reliable and improved quality control. So far, recognized and frequently used methods and technical solutions for detecting surface defects in plastic films include visual inspection, which is a subjective method, and the use of image processing systems. 

Our target is the definition of a standardized test method and criteria for optical defect detection and classification, and thus the creation of a quality standard ensures that a uniform quality control is carried out.
